Dear Neighbour,
As someone who lives or works close to our Rudheath Lodge Sand Operation you
will probably have noticed activity around the site in recent weeks.
To date our efforts have been focused largely on preparing the plant site to the north of New Platt Lane. With the
assistance of ecologists, whose main role was to safeguard the resident bird population, we have begun to prepare
the area for installation of the equipment which will process the dredged sand. You might be aware that a similar but
less advanced plant was located in the same area a number of years ago and which served previous nearby sand
operations. With the help of a local contractor we have started to install fencing and gates, additionally we have
conducted litter picks along New Platt Lane. Within the coming weeks we expect to start on highway improvements to
New Platt Lane and to bring electricity to the plant site. We apologise for any temporary inconvenience that may
occur as these essential works are carried out.
Later this autumn we intend to commence groundworks for the process plant to sit on. Before that stage is reached
however we will have initiated the Rudheath Lodge Liaison Committee, among whose membership will be, we hope,
representatives from the Parish Councils in Cranage, Allostock Holmes Chapel and Goostrey.
Throughout the projected working life of the site, and the final restoration, the Liaison Committee will provide
residents with a clear channel of communication to ourselves. I hope this update has been of use to you and we will
